History

Hovey Williams was founded in 1929 by C. Earl Hovey and Roy Hamilton, just weeks before the most devastating stock market crash in U.S. history and the triggering of the Great Depression. Together the two entrepreneurs were able to not only endure the difficult economic era, but to grow the firm into a successful, thriving practice with specialties in patent, trademark, and copyright law.

Bob Hovey, Earl’s son, joined the firm in 1956, followed by Warren Williams in 1957. For over 50 years, they continued the firm’s tradition of helping innovative individuals and businesses create and secure their unique products and ideas.

Built on a strong foundation of values and progressive thinking, Hovey Williams has passionately maintained the same attitudes and beliefs since our inception. Our dedicated leadership strives to continually grow our practice by instilling our founding principles throughout the firm. Our experienced and knowledgeable attorneys continue to be the driving force behind our cutting-edge techniques and ongoing success.
