Adam C. Rehm

Adam is a registered U.S. patent attorney and former U.S. patent examiner.  His practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent prosecution, licensing, and litigation.  Adam has significant experience consulting with executives as well as research and development teams regarding patent portfolio management, valuation, and development, including offensive and defensive patenting strategies and implementation of corporate intellectual property standards.

Adam began his career working as a design engineer for a plastics engineering company. After graduation from law school, he worked as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in Alexandria, Virginia. At the USPTO, Adam learned practical procedures necessary for successful patent prosecution while examining patent applications directed to mechanical devices having electrical components, such as LEDs, OLEDs, light guides, projectors, and night vision imaging systems.

During Adam’s tenure with the federal government, he was appointed to the Board of the USPTO Federal Credit Union, was a mentor in the Global Intellectual Property Academy to foreign dignitaries, and provided intellectual property special counsel to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in one of the largest trademark counterfeiting cases to date. At the DOJ, Adam assisted U.S. Attorneys in the successful criminal prosecution of a major counterfeiting ring that distributed millions of dollars worth of counterfeit handbags throughout Washington, D.C. and along the East Coast.

Adam’s client base is expansive and diverse. His representation of two of the world’s largest manufacturers of electronic components and software has given Adam significant electrical, mechanical, and software experience. Adam has represented a number of renowned U.S. surgeons that are prolific inventors of orthopedic implants, devices, and equipment. Most recently, Adam has developed a growing niche practice with iPhone patent applications from counseling and representing a variety of independent inventors and a startup iPhone application development company.
