Thomas H. Van Hoozer

Tom joined Hovey Williams in 1986 and currently serves as a partner of the firm. He focuses on mechanical patent prosecution, trademark and copyright registration law, and litigation involving patents, trademarks, and unfair competition.

Tom first became aware of patent law in the eighth grade, which sparked his interest in working with people who are creative and inventive. He then met with Bob Hovey, former Managing Partner of Hovey Williams, during engineering school at the University of Kansas, and stayed in touch with him over the next several years. While in school, Tom wrote for the Nathan Burkan copyright competition, participated in the Rich Moot Court competition, and served as a law clerk for the 10th Judicial District in Johnson County.
