Chris prepares and prosecutes patent applications for inventions in the chemical, mechanical and geophysical arts. He first developed his interest in patent law by working as a chemist at Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City, where he initially learned the value of intellectual property rights and the need to have them protected.

Having clerked for Hovey Williams while pursuing his law degree, Chris joined the firm upon graduation. As a law student, he was a member of the editorial board for the UMKC Law Review, which published two articles written by him during his law school career.
