Tom focuses his practice on the preparation, prosecution, and enforcement of aerospace, optical, electronic, computer, communication, and software patents. He also counsels clients on technology licensing issues, software development projects, and Internet issues.

After earning his electrical engineering degree, Tom worked for an engineering consulting firm while he pursued his master's degree in engineering. While in law school, Tom worked for Hovey Williams as an intern and a patent agent. He joined the firm in 1992 and became a partner in 1998.
