  • Hovey Williams is pleased to announce that Jennifer C. Bailey accepted an offer to become partner of the firm effective January 1, 2009.   • Hovey Williams was recently named one of the Top 100 Trademark Firms for the second quarter of 2008 by Trademark Insider. The list was published in the second quarter issue of Trademark Insider and was ranked according to the number of trademark applications filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) during the second quarter of 2008. Hovey Williams ranked 49th on the list, with 110 trademark applications filed.
  • Hovey Williams is pleased to announce that Andrew G. Colombo, Partner, was recently named to Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars” list for 2008. He was named to the list for his IP law practice in both Kansas and Missouri. Rising Stars in an annual list which names each state’s top up-and-coming attorneys. Attorneys considered for the list are nominated by their peers, and nominees are required to be 40 or under, or in practice for less than 10 years.   • Cheryl L. Burbach, Partner of Hovey Williams, recently presented two C.L.E. (Continuing Legal Education) seminars. Her topics included the “Basics of Trademark Law”, presented as a webinar for the Missouri Bar Association, and the “Issues of Recent Developments Regarding Domain Names and Related Disputes” for the Lawyers’ Association of Kansas City. Recent Firm Additions

 

  • David L. Pankros is a new patent attorney at Hovey Williams. David focuses his practice on software and electrical patent prosecution matters. He also has experience investigating the infringement of web-based literary copyrights. Prior to joining Hovey Williams, David spent eight years in software development and consulting.   • Hovey Williams recently announced the addition of Sung Jung Hong to its team. As a patent analyst, she is responsible for patent preparation and prosecution in the chemical field. Over the years, Sung’s research has led to her specialization in the proteomic study of protein tyrosine nitration, primarily as a function of aging.

    Sung was born in Seoul, Korea and fluently speaks and reads Korean. In addition, she received her high school diploma in La Paz, Bolivia before moving to the United States to pursue higher education. You can contact Sung at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
