- Stephen D. Timmons, Partner, and John M. Collins, Of Counsel, have been named to Ingram’s list of the Best Lawyers in Kansas City®. The attorneys were recognized in a special section of Ingram’s June edition.
- Jennifer C. Bailey, Partner, recently served as a panelist for a CLE given by the Association of Women Lawyers entitled Practicing Ethically in the Electronic Era. Jennifer was the featured speaker on issues regarding proper compliance with litigation holds and electronic discovery in complex litigation.
- Hovey Williams is pleased to announce the addition of Dianne Smith-Misemer, Of Counsel, to the firm. Dianne’s trademark practice spans brand development counselling and licensing to regular practice before the USPTO Trademark Trial & Appeal Board and infringement litigation. In addition, she handles major high-tech procurement and development endeavours and represents software developers, vendors, and licensees.
- Hovey Williams is pleased to host Dr. Fabian Müller, Ph.D., a European and German patent attorney from the law firm of Uexküll & Stolberg. His practice focuses primarily on the chemical and pharmaceutical arts. Dr. Müller will be working out of the Hovey Williams office until mid-September. Please contact us if you are interested in speaking with Dr. Müller about any issues specific to European intellectual property protection and enforcement during his stay.
- The Intellectual Property Section of the Kansas Bar Association has appointed Cheryl Burbach, Partner, as an Officer and has asked Brandon Warner, Associate, to join the Executive Committee as a Member at Large.

In the recently published Trademark Insider Report for the first quarter of 2009, Hovey Williams ranked 53rd in the nation for the number of trademark applications filed with the USPTO. The firm filed 87 trademark applications for the quarter.

Drawing Winners
Attorneys from Hovey Williams recently attended the Missouri Solo and Small Firm Conference held June 11-13. Drawing winners were Shelley Bishop of the Law Office of Shelley L.
