Many businesses have excellent ideas for new products for which a demand exists, but often lack the expertise or tools necessary to take these ideas from the drawing board to the marketplace. The Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) of Manhattan, Kansas, is an organization affiliated with Kansas State University that offers a wide variety of services to help companies and individuals engineer solutions and develop new products for commercialization. AMI draws upon the resources of a talented team of experts in engineering, product design, manufacturing, and business that work side-by-side with its clients to meet their specific goals.

AMI works with businesses of all sizes in every market imaginable, including manufacturing, transportation, aerospace, consumer products, agriculture, food, chemicals, plastics, bioprocessing, equipment, and machinery.  To these businesses, AMI offers services that include business planning and research, product development, design verification, custom equipment development, manufacturing process development, bioprocessing, chemical engineering, technology development, and commercialization. 

Also, because of its university affiliation, AMI manages an intern program that allows students to gain real work experience and the opportunity to work with skilled professionals.  Through this program not only does AMI offer assistance in product commercialization, but it is also training tomorrow’s professionals by giving them the knowledge, experience, and skills that are needed to be immediately productive upon entering the workforce.
