Our People in the News
- Cheryl Burbach, Partner, was appointed to the new “gTLDs Subcommittee” of the International Trademark Association (INTA) Internet Committee for 2010–2011. The Subcommittee will evaluate treaties, laws, regulations, and procedures relating to domain name assignment, use of trademarks and unfair competition on the Internet, and develop and advocate policies to advance the balanced protection of trademarks on the Internet.
- Cheryl Burbach was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s (KCMBA’s) Patent, Trademark and Copyright Committee.
- Jennifer Bailey, Partner, recently moderated and presented at a CLE seminar entitled Negotiating & Drafting License Agreements in Anticipation of Patent Validity Challenges. The CLE was hosted by the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) on October 27, 2009.
- Crissa Cook, Associate, and Matt Walters, Associate, recently spoke at the Patent and Prototype Workshop, hosted by the Metropolitan Community College School of Business and Technology. Crissa and Matt provided background information regarding the patenting process to help inventors protect their developments.
- Matt Walter’s article entitled Decision to Deceive: Mismarking Products with Bogus Patent Numbers Can Cost You was published in the November issue of Inventors Digest.
New Faces
- Paul Walker has joined the firm as an associate. Paul is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in May 2009. He also earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the university. Paul recently passed the Missouri Bar Examination and Patent Bar Examination.
