Tracy is a partner at Hovey Williams LLP, having joined the firm upon graduating law school. She received a BS in Chemistry from Missouri University of Science & Technology (formerly the University of Missouri at Rolla) and her JD from Drake University Law School. She has prepared and prosecuted U.S. and foreign patent applications in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, and food chemistry for 19+ years and works extensively with inventions related to polymer chemistry (particularly in a coatings context), mineral technology, enzyme technology, nanotechnology, agricultural chemistry, and specialty chemicals for use in the microelectronic industry. A significant portion of Tracy's practice is devoted to protecting corporate intellectual property outside the U.S., particularly in Europe and Asia. She assists clients in managing their global intellectual property portfolios, evaluating competitive landscapes to identify technology gaps presenting research and business opportunities, and managing risks in crowded technology areas. She has drafted corporate intellectual property policies and procedures, and assisted clients with the implementation thereof. Tracy also provides in-house intellectual property training to client personnel regarding invention harvesting, technology assessment, and patent basics.

Tracy has served on numerous boards over the years and currently serves as the President of the Association for Women Lawyers Foundation, of which she is a co-founder. She has been honored with the Kansas City Business Journal's Women Who Mean BusinessTM Award, the Missouri Lawyers Weekly Business Practitioner Women's Justice Award, the Best of the Bar over multiple years, and most recently the Kansas City Metropolitan's Distinguished Counselor Award.
