Since joining Hovey Williams in 2007, Matt's practice has focused principally on intellectual property litigation. Matt has extensive patent litigation experience in federal district courts from Hawaii to Boston involving diverse technological fields, including medical devices, aseptic packaging, fish processing, fertilizers, agricultural equipment, rangefinders, and various types of consumer goods.


Matt also has substantial experience in post grant review proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Matt participated in preparation and litigation of the first inter partes review proceeding ever conducted at the Patent Office. Before that, Matt gained significant experience conducting ex parte and inter partes reexamination proceedings before the Patent Office.

Matt joined Hovey Williams in 2007 after earning his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he graduated magna cum laude. Matt received his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he graduated summa cum laude.
